RUNNING NUMBERS

I am surrounded by a world of numbers.

Their strange shapes and functions crunch me,

Stomp me, throw me to the ground.

I wrestle, hopelessly…

 Locked in their spiteful superiority

Seeking a way out. . . If I can just

Silently

 Slip

Through a loop

Hit Me Up

Every once and a while,
God hits you up for a favor
" Hey Buddy," he whispers conspiratorily,
hanging out under a lampost on a foggy San Francisco block,
Like Bogart,
real hoarse and sexy
cigarette dangling
creating just enough smoke,
for the mirrors he managed to bring to the set,
Charming you out of any good sense you might have mustered
since the last time
He hit you up.
"there's a Sweet Child O' Mine with a problem,
just give her a shoulder to cry on,
Maybe a place to spend the night,
a friend is what she needs,
an ear,maybe..."
"An eye ?"
"a nose?"
"a five, a tenspot?",
you ask, knowingly...
"Hey, Buddy - I'd do it myself, but you know there';s a lot of special requests I need to answer."
"I know, I got it, Man. No problem. I'm a Big Girl. "
You smile weakly, as the lie drips from your lips.
"Thanks, Baby, you know I'll be by...I'll take care of you, like always"
There's that promise.
Lord, you are such an outlaw.
You can feel those mirrors stabbing you in the back,
as you turn to see the Image of His "Sweet Thing"
Shattered.
She was beautiful.
Alone
She needed you
No, HE needed you.
Yo.
Next time tell him no threeways .

Blue Fever

I get a Blue Fever,
burning cold as ice
I get a Blue Fever
Every sleepless night,

I remember when
you still loved me,
but my heart knows we're through
and I get a Blue Fever,
Over you

I get a Blue fever,
breaking in my heart,
Blue fever,
A Dagger
in the dark,

The memory of you
still thrills me ,
But,my heart knows we're
through,
AndI get a blue fever
over you

Bridge:
I called my Doctor for a cure,
He said you're crazy,
There's nothing wrong with you,
Try a new love ,
Maybe ...
You'll see that Love is always
A chance you have to take,
but, you've got the Blue fever,
you've got the Blue Fever
and the blue Fever is heartbreak

Repeat:

Pre-Chorus and out...

.

Two Cozy

Curled up In a Memory,
A dream Gone by the Way
Pinned to a wish of Fortune
not Knowing what to say,
About the expectation of Glory,
The Reward for a Job
well done.
I guess we'll have to leave it in the
Living Room,
Where we are Two Cozy,
Dreaming dreams of One
or Both of us
tuned into the God-given
Talents
where We expected,
to find Our Destiny

What happened?
We asked...
the Only answer I can find
Is we were
Two cozy.
Too convinced
We were
entitled to
Our Dreams
And, theBig Pay- off.
Did we forget the role
of Servant?
Messenger...
We were
two cozy
Not Hungry
Two cozy.

Another Year

They came and went
those Birthday cakes and kisses
and Wishes on flames
burning out Candles

On the top of the cake,
on top the World,
We acted out
Fantasies
being
Beautiful girls

So have another slice,
and keep the Faith
of our Fathers,
Help yourself to Love,
and Peace,
And do Good
Unto others

I will make a scrapbook,
of the Time
we Shared together,
as Sisters,
as Daughters
and Mother's
Little Babies
Munching on that
Shortning Bread

I Am Singing

Let's try a chorus of good Old Fashioned Praise...
I know the Lord would love to hear it -
He has Demonstrated His Power
again in my Life.
and I am Singing...
There are Miracles
I see Daily,
in the Laughter and the Smiles
of the Young,
I will teach a Song Today,
for
I am Singing a New Song
It is has a name
But, I didn't write It.
It was delivered to me,
With Love,
It is
Hope.

Thankful

For the fact I am beginning to dream again
Dream that my Vision
of cleaning up this mess
has almost come to pass,
I stood up to the Giants
and they are almost gone,
That is not to say much will be left standing,
when the last of Their Dust has been Swept Out the Door,
Not Under The Rug...
Why did I fall for that Lie?
I am usually a much better housekeeper...
But, I put the the Cart Before The Horse,
Thinking I was powerful enough
to reverse the Order of the Universe,
And, I think we all know,
Who is really in charge of such things

okay, Okay, I get IT...
Man, did I get it...
You talk about Shake it up Baby...
Whole lotta' Shakin' goin' on,
I don't need Ronald Isley to throw down on this one,
Jerry Lee told me about it early on,
and Ms. Franklin,
sang to me of the Do-Right woman ,
and Man.

How quickly we forget the Lessons
of Humility,
Taught by the Right-On Reverend Al Green,
Lover Man Sam Cook, and the Prophet of Doom
Marvin Gaye,
and all those other
Blue Boys before them.

Don't you reach beyond your raizin', Little Missy,
You keep to your Place,
Follow the Rules,
you Ain't no better than the Next one,
But you might be just as good,
And, if the Circle is really Unbroken,
like they say,
you may live to
Play the Game
Again.

Yes, I am Thankful
