I Am Singing

Let's try a chorus of good Old Fashioned Praise...
I know the Lord would love to hear it -
He has Demonstrated His Power
again in my Life.
and I am Singing...
There are Miracles
I see Daily,
in the Laughter and the Smiles
of the Young,
I will teach a Song Today,
for
I am Singing a New Song
It is has a name
But, I didn't write It.
It was delivered to me,
With Love,
It is
Hope.

Thankful

For the fact I am beginning to dream again
Dream that my Vision
of cleaning up this mess
has almost come to pass,
I stood up to the Giants
and they are almost gone,
That is not to say much will be left standing,
when the last of Their Dust has been Swept Out the Door,
Not Under The Rug...
Why did I fall for that Lie?
I am usually a much better housekeeper...
But, I put the the Cart Before The Horse,
Thinking I was powerful enough
to reverse the Order of the Universe,
And, I think we all know,
Who is really in charge of such things

okay, Okay, I get IT...
Man, did I get it...
You talk about Shake it up Baby...
Whole lotta' Shakin' goin' on,
I don't need Ronald Isley to throw down on this one,
Jerry Lee told me about it early on,
and Ms. Franklin,
sang to me of the Do-Right woman ,
and Man.

How quickly we forget the Lessons
of Humility,
Taught by the Right-On Reverend Al Green,
Lover Man Sam Cook, and the Prophet of Doom
Marvin Gaye,
and all those other
Blue Boys before them.

Don't you reach beyond your raizin', Little Missy,
You keep to your Place,
Follow the Rules,
you Ain't no better than the Next one,
But you might be just as good,
And, if the Circle is really Unbroken,
like they say,
you may live to
Play the Game
Again.

Yes, I am Thankful

Was I There ?

Was I there for you
when you called
in the middle
of your Darkest Night?
Was I there for you
each sunny morning
that you called stormy?
Wasn't it I who made the jokes
and kept you laughing
at my feeble attempts to hold you
to the other side of This Life?

I meant every word,
every sacrifice was made in Hope
to keep you near,
To help you find your Happiness,
In a world which you found bleak, uninteresting.

I never suspected you were busy
turning my intentions
against me.
But, you were skilled
at the Art of Deception,
and I was a Fool.

A fool for believing
in the pretend games,
we played as children,
The bedtime stories we shared,
the spider hunts for your safe keeping
The hugs in the middle of those rages . . .

I was there - I know I was .
Where were you?

I'll Have Another

It's another one,
A wake-up-in-the -middle - of - the - night night
A sit and wonder which one of those
Alice In Wonderland signs is lying,
Waiting for you to trip up
or out,
Whichever the case may be
at this place
on time
or
Not.

So Cold

I bet you
would like to pin this caper on me,
all of it.
The phony suicide note,
the crybaby blues,
the hollow talk about
finding your way,
All the interest in what I was about.

I am bitterly laughing at having fallen
off the turnup truck
and letting the damn thing drag me behind
for so long

What a joke I've been to you
It explains alot,
Those drafty old places you inhabited,
The set-ups
the put-downs
the nightmares
the middle-of -the -night-emergencies

The wind whips around you like ghosts
with sharp teeth,
But you got it covered
You always have
winked those Baby Blues
at The Devil
and got away with It

What you gonna' do
when
I get up off this ground,
and drive this truck up the hill
Where you and the damn dogs dance naked in the snow
In the Moonlight
and pick up that shotgun
for real this time ?

You'll keep laughin'
no doubt,
You still got 'em all fooled,
all but me ,
I know you better than you want me to
Your tears will freeze
on your face
As they fall
frozen
unconcerned, uncaring,
falling,
Following you to the ground
So cold.
